Meet the Speakers

Karen Walker is a nationally recognized speaker, leadership coach and certified D.I.S.C. practitioner with 20+ years of experience in leading and developing people. She is passionate about training individuals and organizations in leadership, effective communication, and personal development. Karen's dynamic and engaging workshops are designed to help enrich your daily life through positive work culture and inclusive collaboration. With 15+ years in public media at Arkansas PBS, she brings established strategies and training to organizations of all sizes.

In addition to being owner of Karen Walker Speaks, Karen is founder of the highly esteemed Spark Retreat, an annual event in Central Arkansas. With years of experience in leading and inspiring women to move from insight to action, Karen has a gift for simplifying life’s challenges and providing real-life, leadership lessons that can help women achieve their best. The Spark Retreat is designed for women from all walks of life to gather for a day of learning that includes time to relax, refuel and connect with other women.

Brandi Rodgers is a mental health therapist (licensed certified/clinical social worker) and owner of Because You Matter Counseling PLLC located in Conway, Arkansas. In her practice, her goal is to work in partnership with clients to assist them in recognizing their own strengths, self-worth, and resilience to promote growth and positive changes. She has 15 years of experience providing mental health services addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges including past hurts (trauma), depression, anger, anxiety, self-destructive behavior, substance use, loss of touch with reality, relationship issues, and coping with life changes. Brandi also seeks to support and develop the skills of current and future colleagues and the community by serving as an adjunct instructor in the social work program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, providing supervision to social workers working towards advancing their practice and speaking at community events. She earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Arkansas where she double majored in sociology and psychology.

She is compassionate, creative, and strongly believes that ALL individuals deserve care and respect. Brandi is especially passionate about working with individuals who are seeking to overcome adversity and trauma and believes that empowerment is one of the fueling forces during this process. She is excited about the opportunity to be involved with any event hosted by Karen Walker Speaks. Brandi shares, "It can be very challenging to overcome things that life throws at us, however, some of our most hurtful, negative experiences, biggest struggles, and even mistakes can expose our greatest strengths, bravery, and resilience" and it is important to remember that "Your story matters... And the rest is still unwritten".
